Written and directed by Gareth Evans, THE RAID 2 picks up right where the first film left off and follows Rama (Iko Uwais) as he goes undercover and infiltrates the ranks of a ruthless Jakarta crime syndicate in order to protect his family and uncover the corruption in his own police force. At the very least it still looks damn entertaining! The only way to take the original story further, is by expanding the scope, but I worry if that will cause the rest to suffer. ![]() They’re definitely expanding the scope of this film and encompassing a city-wide corruption problem, which could be both good and bad. One of the reasons the original works so well, is it’s highly contained and simple story. ![]() There’s a ton of things that seem to be going on here, but during a Q&A before releasing the trailer, director Gareth Evans says it’s all Act 1 type of stuff. ![]()
